Two original comic series. One creator.
Foggy is Guy Fogel, sole creator of the musical super hero comic series “Sonica” and the mad soldier’s mystery “Sherman’s Pit”. Originally from Israel, he is currently operating out of Berlin, Germany.
Foggy’s Story
Originally from Rishon Lezion, Israel, Guy Fogel took an interest to comics from a young age. After his mandatory military service, he studied Visual Communication at Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem. Upon graduation in 2012, he published Sherman’s Pit #1 in Hebrew at local conventions and comic book shops. in 2014, Sherman’s Pit #3 Hebrew version has been successfully funded on Israeli crowdfunding plarform Headstart. In an attempt to reach a more mainstream audience, Foggy published a pilot issue in Hebrew for his second series, Sonica, in 2017.
While the new musical superhero comic has met with success, the author aspired to reach new audiences across the globe; to that end, he migrated to Berlin, Germany in early 2018, then proceeded to translate the first issues of each series and storm major comic cons in Central Europe such as German Comic Con (Frankfurt, Munich, Dortmund and Berlin), Comic Con Germany (Stuttgart), Comicinvasion Berlin, Mex Berlin, Comic Con Prague, Comic Con Amsterdam, Comic-Salon Erlangen, and Animeshow Bratislava.
In 2020, Foggy has successfully launched his first Kickstarter for Sonica #1-2, raising over a 1000€. in 2021, he has completed Sherman’s Pit #4 and has successfully ran a kickstarter for a digital collection of Sherman’s Pit #1-4 which is now available at the shop page.
While in Germany, Foggy has also joined the Israeli Comic Collective ComicsCG. While they have become the distributors for Foggy Comics in Hebrew, Foggy has become their distributor for all titles translated to English. Titles include the fantasy manga Eardor, the silent romance one-shot Manga Pear Flavor and the graphic novel Piece Of Mind, winner of the 2019 International Manga Award from the creative team of Nimrod Frydman & Guy Lenman; and The Wild Rooster, a silent comic adaptation of an ancient Talmudic tale by Shaked Avidan.
There’s only one way to counter the Reboot/Retcon/Rehash culture: make new stuff. I’d like to think I’m doing my part.
